Hedwiges Maduro is another of the promising young players blooded by Marco van Basten.

The midfielder made his debut for the national team aged just 20 only a month after his debut for Ajax. He came on for Mark van Bommel in the qualifier against Romania which went a long way to securing their place in Germany.

A rising star, Maduro played seven times for the Dutch in their 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign, where he was regularly used as a substitute.

He appeared at the 2002 UEFA European U-17 Championships and went on to captain Holland at the FIFA World Championships, where the Dutch reached the last eight, with Maduro scoring twice.

Maduro was voted the biggest emerging talent at Ajax in the 2003/04 season and is a skilful playmaker who has the ability to make his mark in Germany.
