Denny Landzaat leads by example as captain of AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie and is a favourite of national coach Marco van Basten, who prefers to play him on the right-hand side of midfield.

Landzaat is another product of the Ajax youth academy who is very comfortable on the ball as well as being able to deliver a good cross when moving out into a wider position.

Although he is not the biggest of players, he is deceptively strong on the ball and brave in the tackle when called upon to provide defensive cover.

The midfielder was part of the AZ Alkmaar team who lost in last season's UEFA Cup semi-final against Sporting Lisbon and also helped them to finish as runners-up this season in the Eredivisie.

The midfielder played 10 times in Holland's 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign and is a probable starter for the Dutch team this summer.
