After unsuccessful trials with three French sides - including Paris St Germain - and a failure to obtain a work permit for a move to English sides Colchester and Wycombe, Avery John finally turned professional when he moved to Major League Soccer side New England Revolution in 2004.
After a successful first season, he found appearances harder to come by in his second campaign in the US, but becoming a professional has aided his game and he is a vital part of the Soca Warriors squad.
With over 50 international caps to his name, he is another experienced member of Leo Beenhakker's squad.
