Michael Umana has played for the Costa Rican national side at various youth levels, was part of their squad at the 2004 Summer Olympics and has recently forced his way into the senior squad in time for the World Cup.
The defender played for five seasons in Costa Rica before moving from Sport Herediano to Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005. However after an unsuccessful campaign, Umana was released by Galaxy and now plays for Brujas.
Unlikely to feature heavily for Costa Rica in Germany, Umana is a player who can offer manager Alexandre Guimaraes a lot in the future.
