Paulo Santos was called into Portugal's World Cup squad as a late replacement for third-choice goalkeeper Bruno Vale, who was forced out with an injury.
The 33-year-old therefore has little chance of becoming coach Luiz Felipe Scolari's starting goalkeeper with both Ricardo and Quim both ahead of him in the pecking order.
However the Braga stopper, who made his international debut in the 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland in 2005, has been in impressive form in Portugal's Super Liga this season and would be more than capable if required.
