Something of a newcomer on the international scene having only made his debut against Congo last year, midfielder Sofiane Melliti has already carved himself out a regular role in the national side under Roger Lemerre.

Preferred to Slim Ben Achour for the African Nations Cup earlier this year, the 27-year-old took his chance with both hands and his form in Egypt convinced Lemerre not only to select Melliti but to overlook Achour this summer.

Not the most technical of players but the strapping midfielder is as strong as an ox and not shy to stick his foot in.

Formerly with Esperance and Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava, Melliti now plays his club football in Turkey for Gaziantepspor.
