Promoted to the role of Gianluigi Buffon's understudy following the international retirement of Francesco Toldo, Angelo Peruzzi is hugely experienced if not in terms of caps then certainly in age.
The 36-year-old was Italy's first choice for Euro '96 but then fell from favour and as a result of the strong competition Buffon - one of the world's finest - has provided he has struggled to put together a decent run in the side since.
With a shade over 30 internationl caps to his name, the Lazio stopper has a tremendous pedigree at club level having previously played for three of Italy's top clubs in Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan.
The highlight of Peruzzi's club career to date was at Juve, when he was an integral part of the side that won the Serie A and Champions League.
Feted for his positional sense, the veteran will provide reliable cover.
