Position: Forward
Born: 03.12.81
Club: Valencia

Many well-informed observers feel David Villa should start more games for his country - and his 25 goals in La Liga this season (the same tally as Barcelona hitman Samuel Eto'o managed) underline why.

A bustling striker, Villa's style hides the poacher's instinct of a man who has scored bagfuls of goals throughout his career, whether it be for Sporting Gijon, Real Zaragoza or current club Valencia.

Yet there is more to the 24-year-old's game than just goals - his work-rate making it difficult for defenders to handle him and allowing his strike partners more time to grab goals of their own.

Assuming both are fit, Fernando Torres and Raul will surely form the Spanish strikeforce when the Finals start, but in Villa Spain have one of the best back-up hitmen at the tournament.
