A national hero after his hat-trick in the play-off against Slovakia helped Spain qualify, Luis Garcia will be a useful member of Luis Aragones' squad.
Preferred on the right wing to Joaquin, Garcia came up trumps for Aragones as Spain booked their place in Germany at the end of a topsy-turvy campaign.
Perhaps not yet established enough to consider himself a first-team regular (he played just three times in qualifying while Joaquin made seven appearances), his ability to play in a variety of roles will benefit Aragones and has gone a long way towards him earning his place in the squad.
At club level Garcia continues to frustrate and amaze in almost equal masure.
Part of the 'Rafalution' at Liverpool after joining from Barcelona, Garcia enjoyed a brilliant first season at Anfield as he netted 13 goals from midfield including five as the Reds won the fifth European Cup in their history.
He can still be prone to drifting out of games or taking the wrong option at crucial times, but his moments of genius - witness his goal in the FA Cup semi-final this year - more than make up for that.
