Something of a controversial selection given he was included ahead of mainstay Ruben Baraja having only recently acquired Spanish citizenship, Marcos Senna has been an integral part of Villarreal's rise over the last couple of seasons.
The 28-year-old is a powerful central midfielder who is able to spray the ball around the field seemingly at will and burst forward to fire in powerful shots.
Born in Brazil and a league champion with Corinthians, Senna moved to El Madrigal in 2002 but struggled with knee injuries in the early part of his career in Spain, leading to speculation his stay might not be a long one.
When he finally got himself fit, he suffered a fresh setback as he was forced to serve a three-month ban after a positive drugs test, but he returned to drive Villarreal into the Champions League for the first time.
Drafted into the Spain squad for the first time in February this year, Senna is unlikely to force his way into the starting line-up just yet but his form for the 'Yellow Submarines' shows the strength in depth Luis Aragones has.
