Position: Defender
Born: 13.09.81
Club: Atletico Madrid

The man who kept Asier del Horno out of the side during the qualifying campaign, Antonio Lopez will travel to Germany this summer hoping to be rewarded with a starting berth when the Finals start.

Marginally faster and technically superior to the Chelsea man, Lopez lacks the physique of his competitor and is therefore prone to being left out by national coach Luis Aragones depending on the strengths of the opposition.

At 24, Lopez is still short of his peak yet he is already a mainstay of Atletico Madrid's side and will hope he can carve out a similar role in the national side.

Del Horno's move to Chelsea last summer means he has the higher profile of the two left-backs on the European stage, something Lopez will look to reverse by grabbing his chance to shine this summer.
