Position: Defender
Born: 30.03.86
Club: Real Madrid

One of the most promising players in Spanish football, Real Madrid showed how highly they rated Sergio Ramos by splashing out the small matter of £18million for him last summer.

The move made him the first Spaniard to move to the Bernabeu for five years and underlined the undoubted potential that the former Sevilla man has.

Able to play in a variety of roles, be it right-back, central defence or in the centre of midfield, the 19-year-old has already shown Madrid's money was well spent with a string of commanding performances for the Meringues.

Spain coach Luis Aragones sees him more as a right-back than anything else but his attributes - he is quick across the ground, good in the air and blessed with a powerful shot - mean he can turn his hand to just about any position.

Still in his teens, much is expected of Ramos but he showed in qualifying - his four appearances yielded two goals - he is more than capable.
