One of two Australians at Basle - Scott Chipperfield is the other - and like Chipperfield, Mile Sterjovski also turned out for Wollongong Wolves.

In between he enjoyed spells at Lille, Sydney United and Parramatta Power.

Stejovski was a regular squad member under former Australia coach Frank Farina, but appeared to have drifted out of contention under Guus Hiddink despite netting three times in qualification for Germany.

But he was surprisingly restored to the squad when Hiddnk announced his final squad.

Sterjovski is a goalscoring midfielder, who can also operate as an out-and-out striker, and he will be determined to show the fans what they have been missing during his spell in the wilderness.
