A creative midfielder with deft passing and fine ball control, Josip Skoko is also capable of popping up in the opposition area to grab a goal or two.
He began his career with Hajduk Split before becoming the first Australian to captain an overseas team to a domestic championship with Genk in 2002.
Having played in the Champions League with the Belgian side he reached the last 16 of the UEFA Cup with Turkish club Genclerbirgli before making his way to England with Premiership newcomers Wigan last summer.
His chances at the JJB were limited, though, and he joined Stoke on loan in February, a move he credits with securing him his place in this squad.
Having featured at the 2000 Olympics, the 2001 Confederations Cup and in the squad for the play-off victory over Uruguay, Skoko is one of the mainstays and can expect to be there or thereabouts when the Socceroos team is named.
