A no-nonsense defender, Tony Popovic is one of the most experienced players in Australia's World Cup squad with over 50 caps to his name.
Since making his international debut against Colombia in Brisbane over a decade ago, Popovic has been a regular feature of Socceroos squads and will relish the chance - finally - to play on the biggest stage of all.
Comfortable on the ball for a central defender, Popovic is also a threat at set-pieces as he demonstrated in the Aussies' 3-1 friendly defeat of England in 2003, a sweet goal given the defender plays for Crystal Palace.
Listing Sydney United and Sanfrecca Hiroshima among his former clubs, the experienced campaigner was part of the Australia side that reached the 2001 Confederations Cup semi-finals.
