Sidney Govou has been called up as a replacement for the injured Djibril Cisse in France's World Cup squad.
Liverpool striker Cisse was ruled out of the tournament after breaking his leg in Les Bleus' final warm-up game against China.
Govou has played his entire career with Lyon winning trophies galore, including five League titles.
He announced his arrival on the European stage by grabbing a double against Bayern Munich in a 3-0 win in the Champions League.
He made his international debut against Tunisia in 2002 but his last cap in November 2005 against Costa Rica.
He was also the beneficiary of an injury ahead of Euro 2004 and was included for the trip to Portugal following an injury to Ludovic Giuly.
However, it seems likely that Govou will leave Lyon this summer with interest from a number of Premiership clubs.
Although not likely to feature from the start, Govou is a handy replacement as he can play as a striker or wide on the right.
