Originally from India, former French Player of the Year Vikash Dhorasoo has played for two giants of European football in AC Milan and current club PSG.
He broke into the French national side after winning two Ligue 1 titles with former club Lyon, but has found his opportunities in the national team limited by the huge competition for places in central midfield.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, the 32-year-old has won less than 20 caps for his country despite having made his debut some seven years ago against Ukraine, although he did score during qualification for this tournament.
Likely to find himself restricted to substitute appearances in Germany, unless injury problems strike, Dhorasoo will hope to make an impact in what is his first - and most probably last - World Cup.
