Ivica Olic first made a name for himself on the worldwide stage by grabbing a goal in the 2-1 win over Italy during Croatia's 2002 World Cup campaign.
The striker was only a bit-part player in Japorea as Mirko Jozic unwisely persisted with veterans Davor Suker and Alen Boksic as his first-choice partnership and Olic now finds himself behind Dado Prso and Ivan Klasnic in the pecking order.
A large physical presence, Olic was highly rated in the Croatian league after prolific spells in his homeland with Marsonia and NK Zagreb but failed to establish himself at a higher level during a brief spell with German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.
He had been linked with Juventus and PSV Eindhoven ahead of the 2002 Finals before moving to Russia, which is testament to his talent, but he managed just 219 minutes in qualifying for this tournament, his only impact being a single yellow card.
