Yet another South Korean to make the move to Europe post-2002, Song Chong-Gug left Busan Icons to move to Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord after a rapid rise to the top of Korean football.

Song's European adventure was only a limited success and at the start of 2005 Feyenoord sold him Suwon Bluewings (now Suwon Samsung) as the South Korean champions bolstered their squad for the Asian Champions League.

Able to play in any position in the backline or midfield, the 27-year-old is the sort of versatile performer every national coach needs to have in his armoury.
