Despite being in his late 20s at the time, Kim Young-Chul's international career only took off in 2005 when he was selected by Jo Bonfrere to participate in World Cup qualifying and the East Asian Championship.
The Seongnam Ilhwa defender rounded off a memorable year - although as it turned out he did only play once in the qualifying campaign - in style by scoring his first international goal in November's 2-2 draw with Sweden.
Despite that he is likely to find himself starting the tournament on the bench, but Kim is a strong central defender who will not let Dick Advocaat down if he is called upon in Germany.
