Timo Hildebrand's international career has really suffered due to the seemingly endless scrap between Jens Lehmann and Oliver Kahn for the No 1 spot.
Indeed sometimes it seems as if this highly talented 27-year-old does not exist as the two high-profile stoppers continue their very public rivalry.
Calm and authoritative between the sticks, the Stuttgart goalkeeper has excelled behind a defence which was one of Europe's best a few seasons ago; indeed in the autumn of 2003 he even broke Oliver Kahn's Bundesliga record for consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.
Yet despite experience of two Bundesliga title races and a Champions League campaign, Hildebrand has been unable to break through into Germany's first team-plans and only played in two of their World Cup warm-up games.
