Jan Polak's second coming to the international scene was pivotal in the Czech Republic's qualification for the World Cup.
He originally made his debut as an 18-year-old in 1999 but played just one more international game before a five-year spell in the wilderness.
But in March 2005 he came back with a vengeance, scoring a crucial goal in the thrilling 4-3 victory over Finland before netting a further three goals as the Czechs finished runners-up in their group.
This remarkable form for his country coincided with a 1.5million euro transfer from Slovan Liberec to Bundesliga side Nurnberg as his stock continued to rise.
Now 25, Polak is catching up on what he missed and he'll be one to look out for in Germany this summer.
