Position: Goalkeeper
Born: 07.07.82
Club: Ashanti Goldfields

George Owu will be the deputy for Sammy Adjei at the World Cup but if the need arises he will be a more than adequate replacement.

Although the 23-year-old played just twice in the qualifying campaign, he was part of the team that beat South Africa 2-0 which ensured the Black Stars their trip to their first ever Finals.

The youngster also featured for his country at the World Youth Cup in 2001 where they reached the final before losing 3-0 to Argentina.

With Adjei at the top of his game and widely regarded as international class, Owu may have to wait several years before he can become Ghana's number one.
