Ricardo Cabanas is an attacking midfielder who is seen as an ideal foil to the defensive minded Johann Vogel.
The 27-year-old is yet another of Switzerland's German-based players, currently playing for Cologne who he joined at the start of this season after a long spell with Grasshoppers Zurich, where he won two league titles.
On his day Cabanas can split open defences with well-timed runs and inch-perfect passes. He is versatile enough to play in wide positions or the centre due to his ability to create openings for his team-mates.
He originally earned his international chance when Hakan Yakin was injured but now he's a concrete member of the starting eleven.
Cabanas featured in 10 qualifying games for Germany 2006 and scored in the 3-1 friendly victory over Scotland earlier this year.
