Position: Midfielder
Born: 22.05.85
Club: Bayer Leverkusen

Tranquillo Barnetta is another of Switzerland's rising stars and already based in Germany, he's sure to feel at home this summer.

The Bayer Leverkusen player will be part of the Swiss midfield quartet and his dynamic style makes him one of the most important members of the side.

Despite his youth, Barnetta was selected for Euro 2004 without an international cap to his name but since then he has almost been an ever present, playing in nine of Switzerland's qualifying games for Germany 2006 and even scoring in the recent 3-1 friendly victory over Scotland.

At club level, the energetic midfielder joined Hannover from St Gallen in the summer of 2004 before switching to Leverkusen at the start of this season.

The youngster is very strong on the ball and with an imposing presence on the pitch he is always eager to do the dirty work. Barnetta also has the ability to score goals and if he can rise to the occasion this summer the Swiss may well be a surprise package.
