Denis Caniza is making his third appearance at a World Cup finals this summer and his versatility will help coach Anibal Ruiz.

The experienced defender can be deployed at left-back or in a central role but his intelligence will be his major contribution to the side.

The 31-year-old played in 12 of his country's qualifying games and is known for his tough tackling and determination.

Caniza is a well travelled pro having played for Olimpia of Paraguay, Lanus of Argentina, and Santos of Mexico before joining Cruz Azul in 2005.
