Eric Akoto is set to be one half of Togo's central defence this summer, partnering Jean-Paul Abalo.

Although the Hawks are undoubtedly one of the World Cup's minnows this time round, in Akoto they have a reliable presence at the back due to his exposure in European football.

When he was 18 he joined Austrian outfit Graz AK and remained there until the summer of 2002 when Austria Vienna came calling. After a spell at RW Erfurt he is now at Wacker Modling where he regularly impresses.

Akoto is not the quickest but now 25, he's a good organiser, strong in the air and is difficult to beat.
