A small but pacy striker, Jason Scotland has been a big success in his first season at Scottish club St Johnstone.
He spent two years with Dundee United, but after the Tannadice club failed to secure a work permit for the Trinidadian, St Johnstone signed Scotland in August 2005, and he has scored 16 goals in his first season to help the club to second spot in Division One.
Scotland is unlikely to be first choice in Germany, with the experienced duo of Dwight Yorke and Stern John blocking his path, but he provides useful back-up, as his international goals tally testifies.
With Trinidad & Tobago playing England in the group stages, get ready for a flurry of 'Scotland v England' headlines in the run-up to the game.
At the moment, the St Johnstone striker's rise to prominence appears to be the only way Scotland will play at a World Cup any time soon.
