A product of the US youth system, Josh Wolff is a talented forward who provides a valuable option to national boss Bruce Arena.
Wolff first rose to prominence when playing for the American Under-20s in the 1997 World Youth Championships in Malaysia.
He earned his first Under-23s cap a year later and emerged as their biggest star during the 2000 Olympics, netting two goals in Sydney.
That was enough to gain him his first full international cap and he went on to play in two crucial World Cup qualifiers later that year, scoring the first senior goal for his country when netting against Mexico in October 2000.
A quick and unpredictable forward, the 29-year-old has a talent for creating space for himself and his team-mates and is closing in on 50 caps despite having suffered a cruciate ligament injury which cost him most of the 2003 season.
He has spent his entire career in the MLS, first with the Chicago Fire and more recently with the Kansas City Wizards, but his good form since returning to the international scene has led to him being linked with a move to Europe.
