A utility man with a reputation as a bruising performer, Stjepan Tomas is comfortable either in central defence or as a midfield enforcer.

He struggled to establish himself at club level during brief spells with Dinamo Zagreb, Vincenza and Como but has found a happy home in Turkey, first with Fenerbahce then with current club Galatasaray.

The 30-year-old's size makes him a threat at attacking set-pieces and his fearsome competitiveness makes him an important member of the squad.

A tough tackler, Tomas will embark on his third major tournament this summer having travelled to the World Cup in 2002 and Euro 2004.
