One of the more experienced players in the South Korea squad with over 50 caps to his name, Choi Jin-Cheul was expected to view the 2002 World Cup on home turf as his international swansong but is still going strong four years later.
He did initially announce his retirement from internationals after the tournament but was recalled when Dick Advocaat took charge late last year.
Primarily a defender but also capable of being pushed into midfield, the 35-year-old is strong in the air and reads the game well, perhaps unsurprising given his experience.
Recognised as something of a 'steady Eddie', Choi appears to be one of Advocaat's trusty lieutenants and as such can be expected to play an integral role in Germany.
