There can be no greater compliment to Arash Borhani than to say that when the legendary Ali Daei hangs up his boots, the future of Iranian football looks to be in safe hands.

Indeed, the 22-year-old has already given a glimpse of what 'Team Melli' can expect with a couple of goals in qualifying despite only being a bit-part player.

As quick as they come, Borhani was promoted to the international scene within six months of making his debut for his current club Pas in the Iran Pro-League and had previously banged the goals in for the Iranian Olympic team.

His shooting was a little hit and miss in the early part of his career - easily put down to the petulance of youth - but he has worked hard to iron out the flaws and that sort of attitude will stand him in good stead for the rest of his career.
