Simply follow the dedicated red line which runs along
Hannover's pavement to see the city's major sights. Special events
for the FIFA World Cup include the giant Globus football on Steintorplatz square,
hosting theatre, music and talks. If you can, catch the world's largest
Schützenfest fair, featuring traditional riflemen in splendid costume
(1-10 July).

Landmark: New Town Hall
Hannover's majestic New Town Hall - despite the name, nearly 100 years old - stands on 6026 beech wood pillars. Take the sloping lift up the tower for great views over the city.

Get lost in the maze of half-timbered houses and narrow lanes of the Old Town, where you can find an ancient market church, the theatre and the Old Town Hall.
